Sawan Shiv puja: The month of Sawan, which pleases the heart of the God of Gods, Mahadev, has started from Monday, July 22, 2024. It is a very rare coincidence that both the beginning and end of Sawan are on Monday. According to the scriptures, in the month of Sawan, Ganga water, Belpatra, Dhatura, Bhang, Ber, Shamipatra and Oleander flowers are offered on Shivling, so that Lord Bholenath gets pleased soon.
At the same time, in the scriptures, some worship materials are prohibited to be offered to Lord Shiva, be it the month of Shravan or any other day. Let us know which things should not be offered in the worship of Lord Shiva.
Do not offer these things to Lord Shiva in the month of Saavan (Shiv Puja Niyam)
Do not offer these flowers – Ketaki has been cursed by Bholenath for telling a lie. Since then Ketaki flowers are not offered to Lord Shiva, hence this flower should never be offered on Shivling, keep this in mind.
Why Kumkum does not bloom – Kumkum is a makeup material whereas Bholenath is a hermit, therefore neither kumkum is used for makeup nor tilak is applied on Shivji or Shivling. He is always applied tilak of sandalwood or ashtagandha.
Turmeric – Generally, due to their incomplete knowledge, people apply turmeric paste on the Shivling, which is completely forbidden because turmeric is also considered a makeup material.
Why we don’t use conch shells? Shankha is not used in Shiva worship, because Shankhachud was killed by Lord Shiva and Shankha is considered to be a form of Shankhachud, hence Shankha is not used in the worship and Abhishek of Shivlinga.
This fruit does not grow – Coconut is also not used on Shivling. Coconut Prasad is not offered on Shivling and neither is its water used for Abhishek on Shivling. If you offer coconut on Shivling, then offer it to Shiva in a continuous form.
This leaf is forbidden – Tulsi Prasad or Tulsi leaves are not used in any form in Shivalingam nor are they offered on Shivalingam, doing so is forbidden because Tulsi has been given the status of Lord Vishnu’s wife, so its use in the worship of Lord Shiva is completely forbidden.
