Sarva Pitru Amavasya 2024: It is believed that the ancestors come to earth during the 15 days of Pitru Paksha (Pitru Paksha 2024) and go back to their respective worlds on the day of Amavasya. Therefore, Sarva Pitru Amavasya is also called the day of farewell to ancestors. Pitru Paksha ends with Sarva Pitru Amavasya and Navratri (Shardiya Navratri 2024) starts from the next day.
During the 15 days of Pitru Paksha, people perform various types of rituals like Shraddha, Pind Daan and Tarpan for their ancestors. It is believed that by providing food to Brahmins on Sarva Pitru Amavasya and donating some things as Dakshina, one gets the full results of Shraddha Karma.

Brahmin feast should be organized on Sarva Pitru Amavasya.
Invite 5,7,9 or 11 Brahmins who perform religious rituals and feed them and donate as per your capacity. Keep in mind that while eating food, the Brahmins should be facing south. Also, instead of serving them food in utensils like steel, plastic and glass, serve them food on plates made of bronze, brass or leaves etc.
On Sarva Pitru Amavasya, tasks like feeding the ancestors, performing puja-rituals and giving donations should be completed by noon itself. Do not do this work after sunset.
Donate these things to Brahmins as Dakshina
On Sarva Pitru Amavasya, you can give seasonal fruits, raw vegetables, grains, sweets, utensils, clothes or money in the form of Dakshina to Brahmins. Along with Brahmins, donating makeup items, jewellery, sarees etc. for their wives is also considered auspicious. By doing this, happiness and good fortune increases and ancestors attain salvation.
