Saleema Imtiaz: A big historic moment was witnessed in Pakistan cricket. Saleema Imtiaz became the first Pakistani woman to be nominated in the international panel of ICC development umpires. This information was shared by the Pakistan Cricket Board on Sunday (September 15).
Imtiaz’s achievement means she is now eligible to umpire women’s bilateral international matches and ICC women’s events.
A video was shared by the Pakistan Cricket Board, in which Salima Imtiaz was seen talking. She said, “This is not just a victory for me, it is a victory for every aspiring female cricketer and umpire of Pakistan. I hope my success will motivate countless women who dream of making a name for themselves in the game.”
He further said, “This moment reflects the growing influence of women in cricket and the PCB’s commitment to promoting that development.”
Let us tell you that Imtiaz joined the PCB’s women umpire panel in 2008. She has umpired in many Asian Cricket Council tournaments in the last three years.
Salima Imtiaz said, “My own dream was to represent my country at the international level. I got opportunities in the Asian Cricket Council, but working at the highest level was always the ultimate goal.”

Daughter plays international cricket
It is noteworthy that Salima Imtiaz’s daughter Kainat Imtiaz plays international cricket for Pakistan. Kainat has played a total of 40 international matches so far, which includes 19 women’s ODIs and 21 women’s T20 Internationals. Kainat, a fast bowler by profession, has taken 10 wickets in 16 ODI innings. Apart from this, Kainat has taken 8 wickets in 12 T20 International innings.
