After the Bangladeshi man arrested for attacking actor Saif Ali Khan was produced in a courtroom in Bandra on Sunday, an awkward situation arose as two lawyers representing him clashed with each other.
Due to the unusual circumstances surrounding this case, the Magistrate before whom the accused was produced had to intervene. The magistrate suggested both the lawyers to jointly represent the accused.
Know who is Saif’s attacker
- Earlier in the day, police had told the media that the alleged attacker Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad is a Bangladeshi national, who was caught from Thane city. He is accused of illegally entering Saif’s house in Bandra with the intention of theft.
- In the presence of heavy police force, Shehzad was produced in the Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Bandra in the afternoon.

The court asked him if he had any complaint against the police, to which Shehzad replied in the negative. He was then taken to the dock for the accused at the back of the court room. A lawyer came forward claiming to appear on behalf of the accused.
Drama happened in the court, when two lawyers fought
- However, just before the accused could take his signature on the power of attorney, a dramatic incident occurred when another lawyer entered the accused’s dock and took Shehzad’s signature on the power of attorney, leading to confusion over who Who will appear on behalf of the alleged attacker.
- To calm the situation, the magistrate suggested both the lawyers to represent Shehzad.
- The magistrate said, ‘‘Both of you may appear,’’ Due to which the attention once again came back to the custody proceedings. Both the lawyers agreed to this.
After this the court sent Shahzad to police custody for five days.
Before arresting the accused, the police had detained several people similar to him based on the footage of a CCTV camera of actor Saif Ali Khan’s building.
