Rohit Sharma And Shubman Gill: Rohit Sharma has failed miserably so far in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy being played between India and Australia. Indian captain Rohit Sharma has scored only 19 runs in 3 innings. Now former batting coach of the Indian cricket team, Sanjay Bangar gave an interesting suggestion and said that Shubman Gill should replace Rohit Sharma.
In the ongoing series against Australia, Rohit Sharma is seen playing at number 5 or 6. KL Rahul is taking charge of the opening in his place. Rahul has batted well at the opening so far. In such a situation, there is not much point in removing them from the opening. Star batsman Shubman Gill is batting at number three. Gill has not been able to do anything special till now. In such a situation, the former Indian coach said that Rohit Sharma should play at number three in place of Shubman Gill.
Speaking on Star Sports, Sanjay Bangar said, “That’s the mantra for any batsman. I think he can do two things. First, can he come to bat at No. 3 because if we need to improve our bowling? If he wants to strengthen a bit and sharpen up a bit, then he can obviously change his number.”
Former Team India opener Aakash Chopra also agreed with Bangar on this point. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said, “Rohit can think of one thing if he wants. Come at number three and send Shubman down the order.”
Rohit Sharma’s weakness in batting
Sanjay Bangar further talked about Rohit Sharma’s batting. He said, “Also, prepare yourself a little in advance. It looks like he is getting a little late and he is getting late also because we saw that his bat did not move forward for his favorite pull shot. He usually does not miss the pull shot, it is a signal to all the batsmen whether he is playing his best shot or not.
