Richest Board in Cricket: The game of cricket started centuries ago and after a very long time, teams like India and Australia have established their dominance in cricket. The stature of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has increased in international cricket and it always remains on top in terms of earnings. Therefore, the earnings of Indian cricketers have also increased from lakhs to crores. But a few decades ago, the condition of Team India was not so good. Even BCCI did not have money to give prize money to the World Cup team.
BCCI did not have money
In 1983, the Indian team surprised the cricket world by winning the World Cup. In the final, Team India defeated the West Indies, the favourites to become the champions of the tournament, and raised the World Cup trophy for the first time under the captaincy of Kapil Dev. India had won the World Cup for the first time, so when it came to giving the prize money, BCCI did not have enough money.
India’s great musician Lata Mangeshkar was also a big fan of cricket. After seeing the condition of BCCI, Lata Mangeshkar did a concert in Delhi to raise funds and help the board. With the help of this concert, she collected a fund of Rs 20 lakh and the best thing was that Lata Mangeshkar did not take a single penny as fee for this concert. She also posed for a picture with the cricket team.
Now it is dominant all over the world
Today BCCI has become the richest cricket board in the world, whose net worth is estimated to be more than 18 thousand crores. Australia is in second place in this case, whose board’s net worth is less than Rs 700 crore. Indian cricketers are also at the forefront in terms of salary, where Grade A+ players get a salary of Rs 7 crore annually. Apart from this, any cricketer from India is capable of earning crores in a year in domestic cricket as well.
