Rhea Chakraborty: The Supreme Court has upheld the Bombay High Court’s order to cancel the look out notice against actress Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik and father Indrajit Chakraborty. This notice issued by the CBI in 2020 was canceled by the High Court in February this year. Maharashtra Government’s petition against this has been rejected by the Supreme Court today.
A bench of Justices BR Gavai and KV Vishwanathan orally said that the petition was “frivolous” and was filed only because the accused were “high-profile”, Live Law reported.
Why was the look out notice issued?
Let us tell you that the family of late Sushant Singh Rajput had filed a case in Patna demanding investigation into the actor’s death and accused Rhea Chakraborty of instigating Sushant to commit suicide.. Later this high profile case was investigated by CBI. Had come on the shoulders of. CBI had issued a lookout notice against actress Rhea Chakraborty and her family in this case in August 2020. This circular was challenged by Riya and her family in the High Court.
In February, the Bombay High Court had quashed the LOC issued by the CBI against Rhea Chakraborty and her two family members in 2020. At the same time, CBI had challenged the order of the High Court in the Supreme Court. However, today the Supreme Court has also upheld the order of the High Court.
