RBI Deepfake Videos: Banking sector regulator Reserve Bank of India has warned citizens about the fake video of RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das going viral on social media. In this fake video going viral, the RBI Governor has been shown launching or supporting the investment schemes of RBI in which people have been advised to invest in these schemes. RBI has declared these videos as fake.
RBI warned against fake video
The Reserve Bank of India issued a statement on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, warning the common citizens about the video going viral on social media of the top management of the Central Bank in which they are shown giving financial advice. RBI said in its statement, this information has come to the notice of Reserve Bank of India that a fake video of Governor Shaktikanta Das is going viral on social media. In this video, the RBI Governor is shown launching or supporting some investment schemes. Through this video, citizens have been advised to invest in these schemes through technological tools.

RBI does not give financial advice
Issuing a clarification, RBI said that its officials neither support nor are involved in any such activity. RBI termed these videos as fake and said that it does not give any such financial investment advice. RBI said, in such a situation, citizens are cautioned against connecting with such deepfake videos viral on social media and becoming their victims.
