Actually Ashwin is sad that no one gave him any gift on his recent birthday. Ashwin revealed this after the victory against Bangladesh. Let us tell you that Ashwin celebrated his 38th birthday on Tuesday (17 September).
Talking after the match, Harsha Bhogle told Ashwin that I have heard that people give good gifts to others on their birthdays. It is good that you gave it to yourself. Responding to this, Ashwin said, “No one gave me any gift, so I thought of giving a gift to myself.”
Ashwin did wonders first with the bat and then with the ball
While batting in the match and India’s first innings, Ashwin scored 113 runs in 133 balls with the help of 11 fours and 2 sixes. This innings came from Ashwin’s bat when most of the main batsmen of Team India had returned to the pavilion. Ashwin and Jadeja handled the Indian innings and helped in reaching a good score.
Then while bowling in the last innings of the match, Ashwin took 6 wickets. During this, he bowled 21 overs, in which he conceded 88 runs. Let us tell you that while bowling in the first innings, Ashwin did not take any wicket. For this brilliant performance, the Indian spinner was awarded the title of ‘Player of the Match’.
