Ravi Kishan is called the ‘Amitabh Bachchan of Bhojpuri cinema’. Ravi Kishan has embarked on a mission for the Bhojpuri language which has made him a star. Ravi Kishan wants Bhojpuri to be included in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. For this, a private bill was also introduced in the Lok Sabha recently.
Bhojpuri is the second most spoken language in Mauritius
You will be surprised to know that Bhojpuri is the second most spoken language in Mauritius. 5.3 percent people in this country use this language. Talking to Hindustan Times, Ravi Kishan said, ‘My mother tongue (Bhojpuri) is spoken or understood by 25 crore people in India. It is the second most spoken language in Mauritius’.
Bhojpuri language is not the only language in which songs like ‘Kamariya’ and ‘Lollipop Lagelu’ are present
It is worth mentioning that songs like ‘Kamariya’ and ‘Lollipop Lagelu’ have been super duper hits in Bhojpuri cinema. For many people, only songs like Kamariya and Lollipop Lagelu are the identity of Bhojpuri. However, Ravi Kishan said that, ‘People have this notion that only songs like Kamariya and Lollipop Lagelu are Bhojpuri. It has its own literature. Our late President Rajendra Prasad ji had a connection with the first Bhojpuri film Ganga Maiya Tohri Piyaari Chadhaibo (1963)’.
There is a sweetness in Bhojpuri language
Ravi further said, ‘Some money minded people make such films or songs, so we cannot say that only Bhojpuri is everything. It is not what is visible, it is not just this. There is a sweetness in the language, and it was my intention to bring it forward as a Lok Sabha member. I am known because of Bhojpuri cinema. I am working in many languages now, but people still remember ‘Achha Ravi Kishan Bhojpuri wala’, missing ladies, the matter is legal – all this is done now, but it started with Bhojpuri’.
I am a man with a mission
Amidst the stir to include Bhojpuri in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, Ravi Kishan is also getting support from film stars. On this, he said, ‘Everyone is congratulating me. People now know that I went to Parliament for the right reasons. I am a man with a mission’.
Ravi Kishan is a BJP MP from Gorakhpur
Ravi Kishan is a Lok Sabha MP of Bharatiya Janata Party from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. Ravi had registered a spectacular victory by 103526 votes in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Ravi defeated SP candidate Kajal Nishad. Ravi has also won on a BJP ticket in 2019. Whereas earlier in the year 2014, he contested the Lok Sabha elections from Jaunpur, UP on a Congress ticket. However, he had to face defeat.
