Rajat Patidar Captain SMAT 2024: IPL 2025 is slowly getting closer. There is to be a mega auction before the tournament, in which bids for all the players are to be placed. But before that, the news of Rajat Patidar, who plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), becoming the captain has come to light. RCB itself congratulated Patidar on becoming the captain.
Actually, Rajat Patidar has been made the captain of Madhya Pradesh for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024. Rajat plays first class cricket for Madhya Pradesh only. Due to his excellent performance, he was given the command of the team for the Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will start from 23rd November, while the final match of the tournament will be played on 15th December.
RCB retained
Rajat Patidar, who performed brilliantly in IPL 2024, was retained by RCB for IPL 2025. Rajat scored 395 runs for RCB in the 2024 season in 13 innings of 15 matches at an average of 30.38 and an excellent strike rate of 177.13, which included 5 half-centuries.
Let us tell you that RCB retained only three players, which include Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar and Yash Dayal. Faf du Plessis, who commanded the team last season, has been released by the franchise. In such a situation, it remains to be seen who takes charge of the team in the 2025 season.
International and first class career of Rajat Patidar
It is noteworthy that Rajat Patidar has played 3 Tests and 1 ODI so far. He has scored 63 runs in Test and 22 runs in ODI. He made his international debut in the ODI played against South Africa in December 2023.
He has played a total of 66 first class matches in his career so far. In 113 innings of these matches, Patidar has scored 4636 runs at an average of 43.32. During this period, he has scored 13 centuries and 23 half-centuries, in which the high score was 196 runs.
