Policemen are travelling ticketless in express and AC coaches
A railway official said, “During a surprise inspection between Ghaziabad and Kanpur, we caught hundreds of policemen travelling without tickets. Even in the AC coaches of many express and mail trains, policemen were found travelling without tickets. When we fined them, initially they refused to pay the penalty and the ticket and also threatened us with dire consequences. But we remained fearless and took the payment from them. The reaction of the passengers in particular was very enthusiastic because they were happy to see action against the policemen.”
Ticket inspectors of North Central Railway zone said that they want to focus on passengers accompanied by policemen as such ticketless travellers create problems for passengers with valid tickets.
