Railway Budget 2025: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is going to present the budget for the financial year 2025-26 on 1 February. It is expected that during this period, Rs 3 lakh crore can be allocated to Indian Railways, which is 15-20 percent more than last year. In the budget of 2024-25, Rs 2.65 lakh crore was given to Railways.
Government’s target to run 400 Vande Bharats
While talking to Moneycontrol, a source said that this time the central government can keep a budget of Rs 2.93 lakh crore to Rs 3 lakh crore for the Railways. This money will be used towards further improving the railway infrastructure. Upgradation work of many stations will be completed, many new railway tracks will be laid.
Along with this, there are plans to start many modern trains also. It is being told that by 2027, the government’s target is to increase 68,000 kilometers of railway tracks and run 400 Vande Bharat trains. If work is to be progressed in this direction, then the budget of Railways will have to be kept higher and for this the amount given to Highways will be reduced.
Work going on on many railway projects
At present, work is going on on many railway projects in the country. This includes work ranging from bullet train projects to installing safety shields in trains. Apart from this, metro railway lines are also being laid in many cities. Apart from this, it is being told that along with 10 Vande Bharat sleeper trains, 100 Amrit Bharat trains may also be announced in this year’s budget. Funds will be required for all this.
Rise in shares of railway companies
If the government gives Rs 3 lakh crore to the Railways in the budget, then its direct impact can be seen in the shares of railway related companies like Rail Vikas Nigam, Oriental Rail Infrastructure, Jupitar wagons. All sectors of the country have expectations from the government from the budget to be presented on February 1.
