Railway Budget 2025: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is going to present the budget for the financial year 2025-26 on 1 February. The eyes of the country are fixed on this. Many important announcements regarding Railways are expected to be made in the Union Budget. It is expected that this time there will be an increase of 15-20 percent in the budget of Railways because work is going on rapidly towards utilizing the funds of the current financial year. Last time, Rs 2.65 lakh crore was given to Railways under the budget, which is likely to exceed Rs 3 lakh crore this time.
These works of Railways will be completed when the budget increases
According to the information received from experts’ conversation with The Economic Times, in this year’s budget, the work of upgrading railway stations can be completed, many modern trains can be started, many new tracks can also be discussed so that Traffic can be reduced.
It is expected that this time the increased amount for Railways in the budget can be used to modernize the infrastructure and purchase essential equipment including locomotives, coaches and wagons.
Work on Bullet Train will also progress rapidly
This time, if the budget of Railways is increased, then financial help will be available to speed up the work of Bullet Train Project, which is also known as Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR). According to information received by ET Times quoting a government official, this year the Railways budget may increase by 20 percent because out of the Rs 2.65 lakh crore given to the Railways last time, about 80 percent has been utilized. A senior Railway official also informed ET Times, the Railway Board has spent more than Rs 2 lakh crore in the current financial year. The target is to finish it in the current financial year itself.
Let us tell you that Indian Railways has allocated Rs 21,000 crore for the financial year 2025 to the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), which is overseeing the Bullet Train project.
