PV Sindhu Retirement Update: Paris Olympics was no less than a nightmare for PV Sindhu. The Indian star shuttler had to be out of the pre-quarterfinals i.e. round 16 of women’s singles badminton. Sindhu had to face defeat against China’s Bing Jiao in round 16. After the defeat, Sindhu gave a big update regarding her retirement. She talked about the Olympics to be played in 2028.
Let us tell you that in the round of 16, PV Sindhu had to face defeat against China’s Bing Jiao by 21-19, 21-14. With this defeat, Sindhu’s dream of winning a medal in the third consecutive Olympics was shattered. Sindhu’s campaign ended with the defeat. After the defeat, Sindhu was asked about the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Sindhu replied, “There are four years left for the next Olympics. I will go back and take some rest. I will see what happens after taking a break. Four years is a very long time. Right now it is time to go back. I could not give the result that I had expected. It is sad, but it is a journey.”
Apart from this, the Indian star talked about the match. She told how she could not control herself. The Indian shuttler said, “I think I should control my mistakes, especially in the second match. It is sad that I could not convert it into a win. In the first match, the score was 19-19 at one point. I kept fighting for every point. Both of us were fighting. You cannot expect easy play or easy points. I should control the mistakes on the defensive end.
Medals were won in the last two Olympics
It is worth noting that PV Sindhu had won medals in both the previous Olympics. The Indian shuttler had won the silver medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics. Apart from this, Sindhu had won the bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. This time a gold medal was expected from her in the Paris Olympics.
