Praveen Kumar UPCA Selection Committee Chairman: A big responsibility has fallen on the shoulders of former Indian fast bowler Praveen Kumar. He has been appointed chairman of Uttar Pradesh Senior Cricket Selection Committee. There is a lot of enthusiasm not only in Meerut but among all the cricketers due to this decision. Praveen retired from all forms of cricket in the year 2018 and last represented India at the international level in the year 2012. But now he will have the responsibility of preparing a generation of young cricketers.
Praveen Kumar’s statement after becoming UPCA Chairman
There is a wave of happiness among the cricket lovers of Meerut due to this decision of Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA). The benefit of this decision will be given to those young cricketers who want to be a part of the Indian team. Praveen will also share with the domestic players the experience that he had gained by playing for the Indian team. Praveen, who rose from the land of Meerut and proved his bowling prowess in the world, has also expressed happiness on getting the post of chairman.
After being elected chairman, Praveen Kumar said that it is a matter of pride for me that I will take up the responsibility of giving a platform to new cricketers to reach new heights. He also said that like him, many players have emerged from Meerut and proved their mettle in global cricket. According to him, there is no dearth of talent in UP, players just need a platform. This former Indian fast bowler says that if you remain committed to practice at the right place and achieve your goals, success will follow. Praveen has said that he will organize more and more camps from the district level to the state level and will put in all his strength to hone the talent of young cricketers.
Praveen Kumar’s career
Praveen Kumar made his debut for India in the year 2007, after which he left a deep impression especially on ODI cricket. With the help of his deadly swing, he took a total of 77 wickets in 68 ODI matches. He took 27 wickets in 6 Test matches and 8 wickets in 10 T20 matches. While batting, he also scored a half-century in ODI cricket.
