Corporate Social Responsibility: The Central Government has taken a big decision to accelerate the PM Internship Scheme. Now public sector companies will be able to spend their CSR money on this ambitious scheme of the government. For this, the government has amended the corporate social responsibility guidelines for the current financial year for public sector companies. Now the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme will also be included as a general topic or theme in the CSR of these companies.
Companies will be able to spend 60 percent of CSR fund
According to a senior official, every year public sector companies decide a theme or theme to fulfill their social responsibility. They have to spend 60 percent of their CSR funds on this theme only. He said that we have added the PM Internship Scheme in ‘Health and Nutrition’ as a common theme for CSR for the financial year 2024-25. Now public sector companies will be able to spend 60 percent of their CSR funds on these things in this financial year.
1.25 lakh youth are to be given internship this year
The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has started the registration of companies as well as interns under the internship scheme earlier this month. Under this scheme, one crore youth are to be given internship in 5 years. Under the pilot project, the 12-month internship is going to start from December 2. It is estimated to cost around Rs 800 crore. The target is to bring 1.25 lakh youth under it in the current financial year ending March 2025.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had launched this scheme in the budget.
PM Internship Scheme was announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the budget. Under this scheme, top 500 companies will provide internship opportunities to youth aged 21 to 24 years. Besides, they will also be given life insurance. Apart from monthly financial assistance of Rs 5,000 for one year, a lump sum grant of Rs 6,000 will be given to the intern. In monthly assistance, Rs 4,500 will be given by the government and Rs 500 will be given by the company from its CSR fund.
Youth have 5 days to register
In this scheme, registration can be done on the portal till 25th October. The youth will be selected on 26th October. After this, from October 27 to November 7, companies will select the youth to work for them. Youth will be given time from 8 to 15 November to accept the offer. A maximum of three offers will be given to a candidate.
