Pitru Paksha 2024: Pitru Paksha is the time to pay tribute to the ancestors. During the 15 days of Pitru Paksha, people perform rituals like Shraddha, Pinddaan and Tarpan for their dead ancestors or Pitras. What is Tarpan (What is Tarpan)
According to prophet and astrologer Anish Vyas, Tarpan means offering of water. While performing Tarpan, water, milk, sesame and Kush are offered to the ancestors. It is believed that this satisfies the ancestors. You can do this on any day during Pitru Paksha. In the Tarpan method, ancestors, gods and sages are satisfied by offering water mixed with sesame.
What is Pind Daan (What is Pind Daan)
Pinddaan is considered to be the easiest and simplest way for the ancestors to attain salvation. Pinddaan means offering food to the ancestors. This is a ritual to pay tribute to the souls of ancestors. Pinddaan is also necessary so that the ancestors can get rid of the attachment and start their further journey.
Although there are many holy places across the country for performing Pind Daan, but Gaya Ji in Bihar is considered the best for performing Pind Daan for ancestors. Along with Gaya Ji, people get Pind Daan performed by Brahmins as per rituals in Haridwar, Jagannathpuri, Kurukshetra, Chitrakoot, Pushkar etc.
What is Shradh (What is Shradh)
The Shraddha Karma performed during Pitru Paksha is an elaborate ritual. It is said to be the path of salvation for the ancestors. In this, Brahmins perform rituals like Pinddaan, Havan, food and donation. During Shraddha, the Shraddha performer has to follow the rules properly. It includes Panchbali, in which food is offered to cow, crow, dog, god and ants.
