According to astrologer Anish Vyas, according to the Panchang, Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Paush month is known as Vaikuntha Ekadashi. Along with this, it is also called Pausha Putrada Ekadashi. This year Vaikuntha Ekadashi is falling on Friday, January 10, which is also the first Ekadashi of the new year 2025. Today people will keep a fast and worship Lord Vishnu and break the Ekadashi fast on the next day i.e. on 11 January 2025. The time for Parana will be from 7:15 to 8:21 in the morning.
Does Vaikuntha Ekadashi really open the doors of heaven?
According to the mythological story related to Vaikuntha Ekadashi, a king named Vaikhanas ruled in Gokul city. Brahmins who knew all four Vedas lived in the king’s kingdom. The king himself also took care of his subjects. Once at night while sleeping, the king saw in his dream his father suffering the tortures of hell. In the dream itself, the king’s father was telling him, son, please liberate me from the tortures of this hell. Then the king called the Brahmins in the morning and told them about the dream. The Brahmins said, O King! If you go to the ashram of Parvat Rishi, you will get the solution to your problem. The king reached the mountain sage’s ashram without any delay and told him about the dream. The sage said, Rajan! Your father is suffering the tortures of hell due to his sins committed in his previous life.
After this the sage told about Vaikuntha Ekadashi fast to free his father from the tortures of hell. He said, pledge the virtue of this fast to your father. This will liberate them from hell. As per the orders of the sage, the king observed a fast on Vaikuntha Ekadashi and due to the effect of the fast, the king’s father got freedom from hell. In the dream, the father also appeared to the king while going to heaven.
