International Table Tennis Federation released the list of seeded players
The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has announced the seed list of all the players on Tuesday. A total of 67 players have been given seeds in the men’s and women’s singles event, while 16-16 teams have been selected in the team event. In which Sreeja has got 16th seed and Manika has got 18th seed. Indian male player Sharath Kamal, who represented India in the Olympics for the fifth time, has got the 24th seed in the Paris Olympics. The Indian men’s team has got the 14th seed in Paris 2024.
Shreeja Akula is India’s number 1 female singw player
Just last month, Sreeja Akula achieved the best ranking of her career at 24th. With this achievement, she surpassed Manika Batra and became India’s number 1 female table tennis player. 25-year-old Sreeja Akula has also been a two-time national champion.
Manika Batra will represent India in Olympics for the third time
World number 28 Manika Batra has been seeded just two places below Shreeja in the Paris Olympics. Manika Batra has already achieved many achievements on the basis of national prowess and excellent performance. She has been a Commonwealth Games champion. In May, she made it to the quarter-finals of the Saudi Smash women’s singles event. She became the first table tennis player from India to do so. It is worth noting that Manika will represent India in the Olympics for the third consecutive time.
Indian team will participate in table tennis for the first time in Olympics
This time for the first time in Olympics, Indian team will also participate in table tennis event. Along with the four singles players, Manoj Thakkar (men’s team) and Archana Kamath (women’s team) will also participate in the team event. Both men’s and women’s team events were included in Beijing 2008 Olympics. Indian men’s team is among the top 5 teams of Asia. Whereas, the women’s team led by Manika Batra has been seeded 11th.
