Iman won the gold medal by defeating Chinese rival Yang Liu in the 66 kg weight category, but her victory became controversial due to the gender controversy.
The controversy began when Italian boxer Angela Carini left the match after 46 seconds. Following this, Iman Khalifa faced transphobic comments on social media, including derogatory comments about her gender testing. Many said that Iman “looked like a man,” and this further fueled the controversy.
Now Iman Khalif has responded to trolls by sharing a makeover video in which she is seen in a traditional woman’s look. In the video, Iman’s hair style has been changed to a cheeky blow dry and she is wearing earrings, a pink blouse and makeup. Iman has shared this video on her Instagram account, where it has received more than 20 million views till the time of writing this story.
However, the comments on the video are not entirely positive. Some users have made controversial comments about Iman Khalifa’s new look, such as “It’s just a man applying makeup” and “It’s a man applying eyeliner.”
After winning gold at the Olympics, Iman became emotional and said- ‘I want to tell the whole world that I am a woman and I will always remain a woman.’ She has also taken legal action against online haters, including Elon Musk and JK Rowling, who posted offensive posts about her.
