Anti Sex Beds at Paris Olympics 2024: Paris is all set to host the mega event of sports i.e. Olympics. Paris Olympics 2024 is going to start from 26th July, in which more than ten thousand athletes are participating. This includes 117 athletes from India. Before the start of this event, “anti-sex-bed” is trending a lot on social media. It is being said that the bed used for resting in the athletes’ room in Paris Olympics is “anti-sex-bed”. The athletes present there themselves are seen exposing it and posting videos related to it on social media.
Athlete shared the video on social media
Australian tennis stars Daria Saville and Alan Perez shared videos on social media in which they are seen practicing volleyball, doing squat jumps and step-ups on these beds. The caption of the video reads, “Testing the cardboard beds in the Olympic Village.”
Irish gymnast Rhys McClenaghan also tested his bed and rejected the “no-sex” claim. He said – “Last time also I tested them and they turned out to be strong. Maybe I was not able to test them strictly enough…” He called the “no-sex” claim fake news and shared his video on Instagram and wrote – “Paris Olympics’ ‘no-sex’ beds exposed again.”
What is the truth behind the “anti-sex-bed”?
Reports of “anti-sex beds” being installed in the 2024 Paris Olympic Village are spreading rapidly, but in reality these are just rumours. The website Snopes has denied these rumours. In fact, the organisers have clarified that these beds have been designed to be environmentally friendly, not to prevent sexual activity. These beds have been made from recycled cardboard by Airwave, the same company that also supplied the beds for Tokyo 2020. Their main goal is to have a minimum impact on the environment and make all the equipment reusable.
Airwave claims that these beds are strong, comfortable and suitable for all athletes. Also, they have been tested to bear the weight of multiple people. Paris Olympic organisers have stressed that the quality of the furniture meets the needs of different types of athletes.
