American billionaire Elon Musk’s company Starlink is preparing to enter Pakistan. The company has registered itself in Pakistan and is now busy completing further action. Pakistan’s IT and Telecom Minister Shaja Fatima said that the company has been registered and now the licensing process is going on. This means that after getting the license, Starlink will be able to provide satellite internet in Pakistan.
Starlink provides internet through satellite
Starlink does not rely on ground infrastructure like wires or towers to provide Internet access. This law provides internet with the help of a group of satellites sent in Earth orbit. Because of this, internet is available even in remote areas. In this, an antenna is installed on top of the house. It provides internet access by connecting to satellite. Currently Starlink is providing its services in about 100 countries including Australia and America.
Chinese companies also asked for information
At present, apart from Starlink, Amazon, OneWeb and some Chinese companies are providing satellite internet. According to media reports, Chinese companies also want to start this service in Pakistan. In this regard, these companies have sought information from the Pakistani government.
Starlink service may start in India soon
In India too, spectrum is expected to be allotted to Starlink by the end of this month. If this happens, then the company can start its services in India by next month. Let us tell you that currently Maldives is the only country in the South and South East Asia region, which has given license to Starlink. All other countries are considering its technical aspects. Apart from Starlink, Jio and Airtel are also making efforts to launch satellite internet service in India.
