Shoaib Malik Match Fixing: Pakistan cricket has once again been put to shame as veteran player Basit Ali has leveled serious allegations of match fixing against Shoaib Malik. The memories of the match fixing allegations leveled against Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Aamir and Salman Butt years ago have once again been revived. In fact, Basit Ali has accused Shoaib on his YouTube channel that he deliberately made his team lose.
Actually, Basit Ali has once again raised the issue of the National T20 Cup held in the year 2005. The legendary Pakistani player recalled the Sialkot Stallions vs Karachi Zebras match held in that tournament, in which the Stallions had to score just 25 runs in the last 4 overs. Stallions captain Shoaib Malik was standing at the crease after scoring a half-century and his team was on the verge of victory. Malik returned unbeaten after scoring 88 runs in 53 balls, yet his team lost the match by 4 runs. Due to this, questions were being raised on the innings of Stallions and Malik.
Although Shoaib Malik tried to defend his innings in an interview after the match, it seemed very difficult for people to believe his words. Malik was also later fined. Basit Ali did not stop here as he also targeted the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for appointing Malik as the mentor of the Stallions in the Champions ODI Cup 2024.
Pakistan and fixing have an old relationship
The players of the Pakistani team have had a long association with match fixing. The spot fixing scandal of Mohammad Asif, Salman Butt and Mohammad Aamir made the most headlines. Apart from them, the names of many Pakistani players including Mohammad Irfan, Khalid Latif and Aaqib Javed have been associated with match fixing cases.
