Danish Kaneria Question Shaheen Afridi Captaincy: Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria raised a big question on the Pakistan Cricket Board regarding star fast bowler Shaheen Afridi. Actually Kaneria questioned Shaheen Afridi’s captaincy. Shaheen was appointed captain of the Lions team for Pakistan’s domestic Champions ODI Cup 2024.
Danish said that Shaheen is still being seen as the captain of the Pakistan team in the future. If this is the case, then he should not have been removed from the captaincy in the first place. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Danish Kaneria said, “If Shaheen Afridi has been made the captain, it means that he is being considered to be the captain of Pakistan in the future. Then why did you remove him in the first place? They should have shown confidence in him.”
Shaheen Afridi became the captain after the 2023 ODI World Cup
After a poor performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup played in India, Babar Azam resigned from the captaincy of Pakistan in all three formats. After this, Shaheen Afridi was made the captain of the T20 team. However, Shaheen was stripped of the captaincy after just one series. Under the captaincy of Shaheen, Pakistan played a 5-match T20 series against New Zealand, in which the team had to face defeat by 1-4.

It is worth noting that Shaheen Afridi is a fast bowler who plays all three formats for Pakistan. He has played 30 Tests, 53 ODIs and 70 T20 International matches so far. He has taken 115 wickets in Tests. Apart from this, Shaheen has taken 104 wickets in ODIs and 96 wickets in T20 Internationals.
