PCB seals deal for Gaddafi Stadium for $1 billion!
You will be surprised to know that PCB has decided to sell the name of its historic Gaddafi Stadium. According to media reports, Pakistan Cricket Board has sold the naming rights of Gaddafi Stadium to a private bank for 5 years. At the same time, this deal has been done for approximately 1 billion Pakistani rupees. However, till now this deal has not been formally announced. But it has become clear that now Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will also be known by the name of the bank like Karachi’s National Stadium.
It is worth noting that the Lahore stadium was named Gaddafi Stadium in the year 1974. It was named after Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. Earlier, the tradition of selling naming rights of stadiums in Pakistan was started by former PCB chairman and former captain Rameez Raja. The deal for the Karachi stadium was completed in 2021 during Raja’s tenure. Since then, Karachi’s famous National Stadium is now known as the National Bank Cricket Arena.
