Neeraj Chopra wins Javelin Throw Silver Medal: Neeraj Chopra has won the silver medal in Paris Olympics 2024. He could not defend the gold medal won in Tokyo Olympics, because this time the gold has gone to Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan. Neeraj Chopra was considered a strong contender to win the gold medal, but Nadeem has surprised the whole world by winning the gold medal and breaking the Olympic record. This is India’s fifth medal in the 2024 Olympics, before this India has won 4 bronze medals.
Neeraj Chopra’s first attempt was unsuccessful, but he threw the javelin 89.45 meters in the second attempt, making it the best throw of the season. Earlier, his best throw in the 2024 season was 89.34 meters, which he achieved in the qualification round of Paris Olympics 2024. Neeraj got 6 attempts, out of which five were empty. The disappointment of not winning the gold medal was clearly visible on Neeraj’s face. Still, Neeraj has set new standards for Indian athletes and youth.
Neeraj created a new record
Neeraj has now become only the fourth athlete to win two Olympic medals while representing independent India. Before him, Sushil Kumar, PV Sindhu and Manu Bhaker have won two Olympic medals each. Earlier, Neeraj had won the gold medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Pakistani athlete sets Olympic record
Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem has stunned everyone in the final of Paris Olympics 2024. Like Neeraj Chopra, his first attempt was also empty, but in the second attempt he set an Olympic record by throwing the javelin 92.97 meters away. Before him, the Olympic record for javelin throw was in the name of Norway’s Andreas Thordkielsen, who threw the javelin 90.57 meters away in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Arshad Nadeem’s last throw was also above 90 meters, which fell 91.79 meters away.
