Anderson Peters of Grenada became the reason for Neeraj’s defeat. He became the champion this time. Peters won the Diamond League title for the first time. He won the bronze medal in the Paris Olympics 2024. While Neeraj won the silver medal. But Peters won the Diamond League.
Actually, Peters of Grenade threw the best throw of javelin to a distance of 87.87 meters. Whereas Neeraj threw the best throw to a distance of 87.86 meters. Hence Neeraj missed by 1 centimeter. Peters won the Diamond League title for the first time in his career. Julian Weber of Germany’s effort was also excellent. He threw the best throw to a distance of 85.97 meters. He finished third. Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan could not qualify for the Diamond League. Hence he was not seen this time.
1 centimeter proved to be too much for Neeraj –
Neeraj was overshadowed by just 1 centimeter in the Brussels Diamond League. He has been the champion of Diamond League 2022. Neeraj had set a national record in 2022. He threw the javelin to a distance of 89.94. But this time Peters won. Neeraj had prepared a lot for the tournament. He was preparing for the Diamond League since the Paris Olympics 2024. Neeraj appeared for the fifth time in Diamond League –
Neeraj Chopra has made his fifth appearance in the Diamond League final. He finished seventh in 2017. Neeraj finished fourth in 2018 and won the Diamond League crown in 2022 with a throw of 88.44m. Last year, Neeraj Chopra finished second behind Jakub Vadlejch with an effort of 83.80m.
