During the promotion of his film Vanvaas, a fan asked Nana Patekar what he believed about secularism, in response to which Nana explained the importance of religion and said that"We are all Indians and this should be our only religion" He believes that being called Hindu or Muslim is not very important. Nana Patekar’s vision reflects his secular views, where he considers people of all religions equal and gives more importance to national identity by rising above religious identity.
