Murali Vijay on Virat Kohli: Murali Vijay, who has been an opening batsman in the Indian cricket team, has made a big revelation and told how the mentality towards fitness in the team had changed with the arrival of Virat Kohli. After MS Dhoni left the captaincy of the Test team in 2014, Virat Kohli took the responsibility of captaincy on his shoulders. Under the captaincy of Virat, India won a total of 40 test matches.
Murali Vijay told that after the takeover of Virat Kohli, there was a big change in the mentality of the Indian team. The team under Virat was focused only on winning and maintaining fitness. Vijay revealed that it was Virat’s mentality that helped Team India defeat Australia 2-1 at home in the 2018-19 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. According to Murali Vijay, the Indian team was able to defeat Australia only because of the mentality of playing aggressive cricket.
India crushed Australia in its own home
The 2018–19 Border-Gavaskar Trophy was held in Australia, when four Test matches were played between the two teams. India had narrowly won the first Test played in that series by 31 runs. But Australia won the second match by 136 runs and leveled the series at one point. But the third match again went to India, where it won by 137 runs. Australia had a chance to level the series in the fourth Test, but that match ended in a draw.
Virat Kohli had scored 282 runs including one century and one half-century in 4 matches of that series. But the biggest star of that series was Cheteshwar Pujara, who scored 521 runs at an average of 74.42 and during this period Pujara also scored 3 centuries.
