MS Dhoni Uncapped Player IPL 2025: Recently, BCCI had a meeting with IPL team owners. In that meeting, the matter of declaring former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni as an uncapped player was discussed. At that time, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) owner Kavya Maran had strongly objected. But now a big update has come out on making Dhoni an uncapped player.
Will Dhoni’s salary be reduced?
Although there is no confirmation yet, but according to reports, BCCI can bring back the old rule. Under this rule, MS Dhoni will be kept in the list of uncapped players. This will also make it clear that Dhoni will definitely be seen playing in IPL 2025.
Let us tell you that this rule existed earlier as well, but it was not used then. But now discussions have started on bringing it back. As a capped player, Dhoni was getting a salary of Rs 12 crore per season from CSK, but if he is kept in the list of uncapped players, then his salary can be reduced to Rs 4 crore.
What is the rule for uncapped players?
If a player has been retired for five years or more, then he can be converted from a capped to an uncapped player. This rule was in effect from the first season of the Indian Premier League to 2021, but was abolished in 2022 as no team ever used it.
It was clearly visible in IPL 2024 that Dhoni had a problem with his knee, despite this he continued to play the entire season. But due to this injury, he was often seen batting at seventh or even lower order. Due to that injury, questions were raised that Dhoni could also retire from IPL, but due to no official confirmation, the fans are still hoping to see Dhoni playing.
