Popular director Shyam Benegal, who gave many amazing films to India, was born in Tirumalagiri, Hyderabad. His father was a photographer in the army. He was fond of films since childhood. In his childhood, he made a film with his father’s camera during his summer holidays, which was titled “chhuttiyon me moj maza”. It was from here that the seed of film making was sown in his life. Making films was considered a taboo at that time, so he did not talk about it to anyone in his childhood. He started his career as a writer in an ad agency. His first film “Ankur” also won national awards. His other famous films focusing on social issues are Nishant, Manthan and Zubeidaa. Shyam Benegal was also honored with Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Today he is not with us but his cinema is still alive and his thoughts will remain immortal.
