Stock Market Closing On 26 September 2024: The trading session of Thursday, September 26, 2024 has again been historic for the Indian stock market. Due to strong buying by investors, the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty have closed at new record highs. Metals and auto sector stocks have contributed to this great boom in the market. At the end of today’s trading, the BSE Sensex closed at 85836 points with a jump of 666 points. While the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty closed at 26,216 points with a jump of 212 points.
Rising and falling stocks
Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 28 closed with gains while 2 closed with losses. Out of 50 Nifty stocks, 44 closed with gains and 6 closed with losses. In today’s trade, Maruti closed with a gain of 4.76%, Tata Motors 3.08%, Bajaj Finserv 2.58%, Mahindra & Mahindra 2.53%, Tata Steel 2.48%, JSW Steel 2.11%, UltraTech Cement 2%, Bajaj Finance 1.93%. Among the falling stocks, Cipla closed with a loss of 1.30%, ONGC 1.17%, Larsen 0.84%, Hero MotoCorp 0.61%, NTPC 0.34% and Divi’s Lab 0.28%.
Market cap at new high
Due to the tremendous boom in the stock market, the market cap has reached a new historical high. The market cap of the stocks listed on BSE has closed at Rs 477.04 lakh crore, which was Rs 475.25 lakh crore in the last trading session. In today’s session, the market cap has seen a jump of Rs 1.79 lakh crore.
Sectorol Update
In today’s trading, the biggest gainers in the market were Auto, FMCG, Metals, IT, Energy, Healthcare and Oil & Gas sectors and banking stocks closed with gains. But a decline was seen in the stocks of the consumer durables sector. A decline was seen in midcap and smallcap stocks. But the Nifty midcap index finally closed with gains due to return of buying while the Nifty smallcap index closed with a fall.
