Gandhi Jayanti 2024: Mahatma Gandhi was born on 2 October 1869 in Porbandar, Gujarat. Therefore every year this day is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Mahatma Gandhi played an important role in the independence of the country.

Apart from being influenced by Prophet Muhammad, Gandhiji also studied the Quran regularly. He memorized Surah Al-Fatiha. Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad had many times seen Mahatma Gandhi reading the Quran early in the morning.

According to ‘Vakil’, a daily article published by Maulana Azad, Hindu-Muslim riots had started across Bengal shortly before independence. Gandhiji was saying to a group of rioting Muslims in Noakhali itself, ‘What kind of Muslim are you? If Hazrat Mohammad comes here today, many of you will refuse to even accept Muslims. I am a better Muslim than you people. They will definitely accept me because I am following the path shown by them. This sentence of Bapu shows how much he was influenced by Prophet Hazrat Muhammad.
