Many times it happens that talented players are unable to reach Team India due to bad luck. Such is the story of Samad Fallah who has played for Maharashtra. The left-arm fast bowler performed very well in domestic cricket, but could never make a place in Team India.
Samad played domestic cricket for Maharashtra for many years. He also played cricket for Uttarakhand. In 2010, Samad played a significant role in helping Maharashtra win the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He took 4 wickets in the final match.
Gradually, Samad started making headlines for his bowling and he was called the Wasim Akram and Mitchell Johnson of Team India. Then it seemed that now Samad will get a place in Team India, but this did not happen. He continued to do well in domestic cricket.
Did not play age level cricket before Ranji
Let us tell you that Samad made his Ranji debut for Maharashtra in 2007. Before joining the Ranji team, Samad had not played any age level cricket. Before this, he used to play tennis ball cricket. At the time of his debut, Samad was only 22 years old. He did wonders by taking 6 wickets in his debut match itself.
Samad played for Uttarakhand in the last days of his career. Then he wanted to return to Maharashtra cricket again, but did not get a chance. He played for Uttarakhand in the 2020-21 season. After this, he could not return again and due to not getting a chance for about three years, he announced his retirement in June 2024.
Such was the career
Samad played 78 first class, 50 List A and 58 T20 matches in his career. He took 287 wickets in 138 first class innings. Apart from this, he took 75 wickets in 50 List A innings and 62 wickets in 57 T20 innings.
