Lanka Premier League Final 2024 Highlights: The final of Lanka Premier League 2024 was played between Jaffna Kings and Galle Marvels last Sunday (21 July). Jaffna Kings won the title match by 9 wickets. This was the fifth season of the tournament. Despite the high score, the title match was one-sided. While chasing the target in the match, Rilee Rossow played an unbeaten century innings for Jaffna Kings. Apart from this, Kusal Mendis also played an unbeaten half-century innings while batting brilliantly.
Batting first in the match played at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Galle Marvels scored 184 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. Bhanuka Rajapaksa played a brilliant innings for the team and scored 82 runs in 34 balls with the help of 8 fours and 6 sixes.
After the first innings, it seemed that the match would be a close one, but it did not happen and Jaffna Kings, chasing the target, won by scoring 185 runs for 1 wicket in 15.4 overs. Jaffna Kings had won the match 26 balls earlier. Riley Rossow played a century innings for the team and scored 106* runs in 53 balls with the help of 9 fours and 7 sixes. Let us tell you that this was the fourth title of Jaffna Kings.
The partnership of Rilee Rossow and Kusal Mendis created a ruckus
Chasing the target, Jaffna Kings lost their first wicket in the form of Pathum Nissanka on the very first ball. After this, Rilee Rossow and Kusal Mendis shared a 185* (93 balls) run partnership for the second wicket to give the team victory. The bowlers of Galle Marvels looked completely helpless in front of Rossow and Mendis. In the partnership, Rossow scored a century, scoring 106* and Mendis scored 72* runs in 40 balls, which included 8 fours and 2 sixes.
Galle Marvels bowlers were thrashed badly
From Galle Marvels side, only Dwayne Pretorius took 1 wicket. During this Pretorius gave away 18 runs in 2.4 overs. Apart from this Zenith Liyanage gave away 30 runs in 2 overs, Isuru Udana gave away 42 runs in 3 overs, Sahan Arachige gave away 20 runs in 1 over, Maheesh Theekshana gave away 34 runs in 4 overs and Prabhat Jayasuriya gave away 16 runs in 1 over.
