Sarfaraz Khan: The Indian team will be seen in action from September 19. A two-match Test series is to be played between India and Bangladesh. The first match of the series will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai from September 19. BCCI has announced the 16-member Indian team for this match. Sarfaraz Khan has also been included in this team, but it seems very difficult for Sarfaraz to get a place in the playing eleven. This was revealed by the BCCI itself.
The name of wicketkeeper batsman KL Rahul is also included in the Indian team released for the first Test. The BCCI official said that Rahul will be given preference over Sarfaraz. Rahul is an experienced player of Team India. He has played 50 Test matches, so it seems right to choose Rahul above Sarfaraz in the playing eleven.
Rahul also performed brilliantly in the Duleep Trophy match, scoring 37 and 57 runs. BCCI is not only looking at the Bangladesh series, but Rahul can be given preference keeping in mind the series against Australia. Rahul has performed well in Tests on foreign soil.
Speaking to news agency PTI, a BCCI official said, “People from outside may not understand how the team works, but Rahul was not dropped. He was injured. His century in South Africa and his 86-run innings in Hyderabad before the injury were excellent performances. With his return to form, the management considers him important for the upcoming challenges in Australia.”
Then the BCCI official further said that Sarfaraz Khan is a strong contender for the team. In case of injury or any situation, Sarfaraz will be the first player to take the place. The BCCI official said, “Sarfaraz did everything right and if the opportunity comes, he will be the first to take the place.”
