Bangladesh Cricket Board Director Resigns: A few weeks ago, there was a coup in Bangladesh, and now the situation of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is also not very good. According to Cricbuzz, Khalid Mahmud has resigned from the post of BCB Director and Vice President of Cricket Operations. Mahmud was an all-rounder and played cricket for Bangladesh for many years. He scored more than 1,000 runs and took 80 wickets at the international level for his country.
Khalid Mahmud became the director of Bangladesh Cricket Board for the first time in 2013. But political change is the biggest reason due to which Khalid has resigned before completing his third term. He remained on the post of director for 11 years, but Khalid has worked in different roles in BCB for the last 18 years. He was also once given the post of chairman of the cricket development department.
He left cricket in 2006
Khalid Mahmud played his first international match for Bangladesh in 1998. He decided to retire from cricket 8 years later, in 2006. Soon after quitting cricket as a player, he became the manager of the Bangladesh team and three years later he got the role of assistant coach of the national team. Although he took over the post of BCB director in 2013, he also continued to coach teams in the Bangladesh Premier League and Dhaka Premier League.
Played an important role in the success of Under-19 World Cup
During his 11-year tenure, Khalid Mahmud took many big steps towards the development of cricket in Bangladesh. He even played an important role in getting Bangladesh the Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2020. Khalid used to be the development head in those days. As a coach, he has won the 2016 title with Dhaka Dynamites in BPL.
