Khalbali Records Review: There are many types of controversies about the music industry. Sometimes there is a fight between singers, sometimes a fight between music labels and singers, sometimes a fight between music labels, we often read about all this but this web series of Jio Cinema shows all these things. It shows everything in black and white, shows all the politics but shows a bit too much and this is its shortcoming.
Story
A popular singer associated with a big music label is shot during a concert, then the singer’s friend and the son of the owner of that big music label, Ram Kapoor, leaves his father’s company and decides to form a new music label named Khalbali Records. What problems he faces, what conspiracies are hatched against him, how big music labels try to break his spirit and what truths of the music industry come to light during all this, this is shown in detail in this web series.
How is the web series?
If you want to know the music industry closely, then you will enjoy watching this web series. Whatever you have heard, it shows it in more detail, some things surprise you that this also happens and some things make you understand how this industry works. But the length of this series spoils the fun, 8 episodes are not bearable, one episode is about 40 minutes long and this is the biggest drawback of this series.
There are many songs in between, Amit Trivedi has composed those songs but no song connects you with it. It could have been made shorter and if it was made in 5 episodes then it would have been a great series because after a while your interest ends, but if you want to know about the music industry then you can watch this series.
Acting
Ram Kapoor has acted well, he has done such roles before. Being a rich businessman is nothing new for him and he suits it. Ram Kapoor’s presence is what makes this series great. Skand Thakur’s work is good, he plays his character well. Saloni Khanna has done a good job. Saloni Batra’s work is also good, but still no such character comes up that impresses you a lot that what a wonderful thing he has done.
Direction
Devanshu Singh’s direction is average, he may have dragged the series too long by getting carried away by emotions, some scenes seem quite boring and it needs to be understood that on OTT, the viewer moves on to another content in one click. So if you are making 8 episodes, then you will have to create very interesting content.
