Kavach: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has said that modern technology like indigenously developed anti-collision system ‘Kavach’ will now be rapidly implemented. Railways have been politicised: Railway Minister alleges
Ashwini Vaishnav alleged that a technical organization like the railways was politicized. He said that it always lacked technology and investment and nothing changed for decades. The Railway Minister said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi brought about extensive changes in it and investment in railways increased tenfold. He encouraged us to adopt new technology and above all he changed our mindset.” Ashwini Vaishnav said this in his welcome speech before Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off three Vande Bharat trains on Saturday.

What is ‘Kavach’ for Railways
The Railway Minister mentioned various initiatives such as electrification of tracks, introduction of Vande Bharat trains, testing of Vande Metro and implementation of anti-collision system Kavach. The ‘Kavach’ system helps in running the train within the required speed limit by automatically applying brakes in case the loco pilot fails to apply brakes. This Kavach system also helps in running the train safely during bad weather.

Kavach is capable of stopping the train by identifying the train ahead or any other obstacle, which was claimed to prevent train collisions and derailments. Also know that the first Kavach tender was issued in the year 2021 which was only for 3000 kilometers. The Kavach system is capable of preventing accidents caused by human error.
