Kane Williamson Injured ahead IND vs NZ Test Series 2024: The three-match Test series between India and New Zealand is starting from October 16. The first match is to be played in Bengaluru, but before that the Kiwi team has suffered a big blow. According to Cricbuzz, Kane Williamson will come to India late because he is suffering from lower abdominal pain. Williamson felt pain for the first time during the second Test match against Sri Lanka.
According to the press release issued by the New Zealand Cricket Board, Williamson will have to undergo rehabilitation process before playing. Kiwi team selector Sam Wells said, “The advice we have received is that the best option for Kane Williamson is to rest and get rehab done, so that his injury does not take any serious form. We hope that the rehab goes well. So Williamson will be available in the next matches of the series.”
Williamson has been in very good form this year. This year, while batting in 12 innings in Test cricket, he has scored 618 runs at an excellent average of 56.18. In these 12 innings, he has scored 3 centuries and only three half-centuries. In such a situation, in the absence of Williamson, it may be easier for India to win the first test match.
Who will replace Kane Williamson?
Mark Chapman, who has not yet played any test match for New Zealand, will be included in the squad as a replacement for Williamson. Chapman has been an integral part of New Zealand’s white-ball cricket team and has scored at an average of 41.9 in his first-class career. He also played a century against India A in the year 2020. Meanwhile, Michael Bracewell will return home after the first Test match against India in Bengaluru. He has recently become a father for the second time and after that Ish Sodhi will replace Bracewell in the other two matches.
