Sachin Tendulkar Most Test Runs Record: England batsman Joe Root has been in the news recently for his form. There are speculations that he can surpass Sachin Tendulkar in terms of scoring the most runs in Test cricket. Root still has to score 3,533 runs to reach Tendulkar’s mark. Meanwhile, England’s legendary cricketer Michael Vaughan has made serious allegations against the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and said that it will definitely try to ensure that an Indian remains at the top position.
Michael Vaughan said, “Root will definitely break Sachin Tendulkar’s record. According to me, he is behind by about three and a half thousand runs. I believe that before his back gives up, he can continue playing cricket for 3 more years. He is very fond of this game and I don’t think he has any intention of quitting cricket right now. He is no longer the captain and can play without any pressure. If he does not break the record, it will be a surprise for me.”
BCCI does not want…
This England legend used harsh words for BCCI and said, “If Joe Root breaks Sachin Tendulkar’s record and moves ahead, it will be one of the best things that has happened in cricket. Because I don’t believe that BCCI would want any other player to leave Sachin behind and reach the top. BCCI would definitely want an Indian to remain at the top, so that Test cricket can be saved because who knows how long it will take for someone to leave Sachin behind after that.”
Joe Root vs Sachin Tendulkar
Joe Root played his first international test match in 2012. After that, he has scored 12,377 runs in 265 innings of 145 matches. His average has been 50.93 and during this time he has played 34 centuries and 64 half-century innings.
On the other hand, Sachin Tendulkar scored 15,921 runs in 329 innings in his historic career of 200 test matches. He also achieved the feat of scoring 51 centuries and 68 fifties while playing at an amazing average of 53.78. Although Joe Root is coming close to Sachin in terms of runs, but in terms of centuries, he seems to be far behind.
