Higuchi won the gold medal by defeating India’s Aman Sehrawat in the Paris Olympics. Higuchi won the silver medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics. Higuchi said in support of Vinesh, “Recovering from failures is the most beautiful thing.”
On Vinesh Phogat’s retirement from wrestling, Rei Higuchi said, “I can understand your pain very well. 50 grams like you. Don’t worry about the voices around you. Life goes on like this. Recovering from failures is the most beautiful thing.”
