IPL 2025 Probable Retention Players List: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced new retention rules before the mega auction of IPL 2025. Under this new rule, each franchise can retain a maximum of six players, including retention and Right to Match (RTM) options. Each team can retain a maximum of five capped and two uncapped players, while there is no limit on the number of foreign players.
Who will be considered uncapped player?
According to this new rule, any Indian cricketer who has not played international cricket in the last five years will be considered as an uncapped player. Apart from this, if the player does not have a BCCI central contract, then he will also be counted as an uncapped player. This change can be seen as a new opportunity for the players.
How much will the teams’ auction purse be reduced to retain players?
According to the new rule, a huge amount will be deducted from the purse of the teams on every retention. Rs 18 crore, Rs 14 crore and Rs 11 crore will be deducted on the first three retentions. Rs 18 crore and Rs 14 crore will be deducted on the fourth and fifth retention. That means if five players are retained then a total of Rs 75 crore will be reduced from the teams’ purse.
