First of all, let us know which players have been retained by Mumbai Indians for IPL 2025. Their names are Jasprit Bumrah (18 crore), Suryakumar Yadav (16.35 crore), Hardik Pandya (16.35 crore), Rohit Sharma (16.30 crore) and Tilak Verma (8 crore). Out of these five players, there are four who have captained the Indian cricket team or are still captaining it.
Jasprit Bumrah has captained the Test and T20 team for India. According to head coach Gautam Gambhir, Bumrah will also be seen captaining in the first test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. Suryakumar Yadav is the captain of India’s T20 team, while Rohit Sharma is the regular captain of the ODI and Test team. Talking about Hardik Pandya, he has taken charge of the ODI and T20 team.
Who will be the captain of MI in IPL 2025?
Mumbai Indians had traded Hardik Pandya with Gujarat Titans for IPL 2024. Last season, MI had removed Rohit Sharma and handed over the responsibility of captaincy to Hardik Pandya. Under him, Mumbai stood last i.e. 10th in the points table. Let us tell you that Mahela Jayawardene is returning to Mumbai as head coach for IPL 2025. He had officially confirmed that Hardik will continue as the captain of Mumbai next season also. It will also be interesting to see how Mumbai is able to strengthen its squad with only Rs 45 crore in the purse.
