Royal Challengers Bangalore has released the retention list of players just before the IPL 2025 mega auction. The team took a surprising decision in this. Mohammad Siraj has not been retained. A response has come from RCB regarding why Siraj was not retained.
RCB head coach Andy Flower reacted to Siraj. He said, “I am sure everyone would be surprised that Siraj has not been retained. His international career has been successful. But we are looking for special skills for fast bowling in RCB.
RCB cricket director Mo Bobt also reacted to Siraj. He said, probably during the retention, Siraj’s name was discussed the most. There was a lot of discussion about whether to release him or retain him. But we have decided not to retain Siraj due to special reasons.
RCB has retained Rajat Patidar and Yash Dayal along with Virat Kohli. The franchise is very impressed with Yash Dayal.
If we look at Siraj’s performance so far, it has been excellent. He has played 93 matches in IPL so far. During this period 93 wickets have been taken. IPL 2024 was also very good for Siraj. He had taken 15 wickets in 14 matches.
RCB has also not retained Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell. Before the retention list came, there was a lot of discussion about these two names.
