They were part of Delhi earlier also. But the team released him. McGurk received only Rs 20 lakh in IPL 2024. But he earned Rs 9 crore in this season.
McGurk is an Australian player and he has shown excellence at an early age. He played for Delhi Capitals only in the last season. McGurk’s salary last season was only Rs 20 lakh. But Rs 9 crores were found in this mega auction. Delhi had made the first bid on McGurk. After this Punjab Kings made a bid of Rs 5.50 crore. Delhi used RTM card. Then Punjab increased the price and said Rs 9 crore. Delhi also installed RTM here and bought McGurk.
Why were the franchises of Punjab and Delhi allotted to McGurk?
McGurk is an expert in explosive batting. He had shown the trailer of the last season. McGurk had scored 84 runs while batting explosively in a match of IPL 2024. He had scored 330 runs in a total of 9 innings. During this period, 28 sixes and 32 fours were hit. For this reason, there was a clash between Punjab and Delhi for McGurk in the auction.
Delhi Capitals wanted to use RTM for Rishabh Pant –
Rishabh became the most expensive player in IPL history. He was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore. But Delhi also wanted to buy him. Delhi had bid up to Rs 20.75 crore. Here he had installed RTM. But Lucknow had bought Pant by paying Rs 27 crore.
