He is recognized as the patron saint of translators and in his memory International Translation Day is celebrated on his death anniversary. Saint Jerome was a priest from North East Italy. He translated many Bible manuscripts from Latrine into Greek. He also translated some parts of the Hebrew Gospel into Greek.

International Federation of Translators i.e. FIT was established in the year 1953. In the year 1991, the International Federation of Translators started celebrating this day as International Translation Day to promote the identity of the translator community around the world.
