Captain Harmanpreet Singh was the hero of this victory of Team India. He scored two goals. Harmanpreet has performed well before this as well.
Harmanpreet Singh became the reason for Spain’s defeat. The first quarter of the match was very interesting. Both the teams gave a tough fight in it. But no goal was scored. But after this Spain scored a goal in the 18th minute. However, Harmanpreet did not let Spain be happy for long. Harmanpreet scored a goal in the 30th minute. In this way, at the end of the second quarter, both the teams were tied at 1-1. But in the third quarter, India again scored a goal. Harmanpreet scored a goal in the 33rd minute. India remained in the lead till the end of the fourth quarter. India won this match 2-1.
This victory of Team India was historic. India has won bronze for the second consecutive time in the Olympics after 52 years. Team India won medals in 1968 and 1972. After this, India won bronze in 2020 and repeated the same in the Paris Olympics. Goalkeeper P. Sreejesh also played an important role in India’s victory.
