Google Chrome Security: If you also use Google Chrome then you need to be careful. Actually, Indian Computer Emergency Response Team i.e. CERT-In has issued a high risk warning to Google Chrome users in India. It has been told that many flaws have been found in the desktop version of the browser, which pose a serious risk to users’ data and system stability. By using these flaws, hackers can control your system. Hackers can run dangerous code or even crash your device. These vulnerabilities affect versions of Chrome for Windows, macOS, and Linux released before 131.0.6778.139 and 131.0.6778.108. In such a situation, it is advised to update it immediately.
What is the danger?
Actually, serious flaws have been found in Google Chrome. These include “type confusion” in the browser’s V8 engine and a bug has also been found in its translation feature. Hackers can take advantage of these flaws to remotely edit harmful code or conduct a denial-of-service (DoS) attack. This may cause your system to crash.
Which users are at risk?
Anyone using an older version of Google Chrome on desktop – Windows, macOS, or Linux – is at great risk right now. People with browser versions earlier than 131.0.6778.139 or 131.0.6778.108 are also at risk.
How can you keep yourself safe?
CERT-In has advised all users to update their browsers as soon as possible. Google has already released a patch to fix these flaws. You can follow this process to complete this update.
1. First open Google Chrome browser
2. Then go to the top right corner and click on Menu
3. After this go to Help section, then check About Chrome
4. After this the browser will check for updates and after the update is installed, you can launch it again.
